How well do you know your body?

Have you ever thought about your glands before?

How in-tune with your body are you? Have you ever thought about the glands in your body and what they do? The answer is probably no if you’re not a medical professional or yoga teacher. However, the endocrine system is an amazing part of the human body and governs so much of what our body does and feels.

Your endocrine system consists of your glands and hormones. We completely underestimate this system. The glands release hormones into your bloodstream which are chemical messengers that help your body to stay healthy and thrive. These messengers can tell other glands to secrete more or less of another hormone or they can control things such as blood sugar levels. And it’s this system that is constantly trying to achieve homeostasis, i.e. balance in your body, to ensure everything is working correctly.

I bet you’ve thought about your hormones though, right?

When we talk about hormones, what comes to mind? For most people, it’s going to be puberty, difficult teenagers, menopause or period trouble. Well the endocrine system is so much bigger than the sex hormones! There is so much more going on within the endocrine system than we realise. And this is where I come in, to help educate people about this system, what it does and why and how you can actually help it out.

And I hear you ask, how?

I run regular Hormone Yoga Therapy courses which teaches people a yoga sequence designed by Dinah Rodrigues to help stimulate the glands in the body into producing those much needed hormones to help the body maintain its balance. We learn how to reduce our stress response in the body as this alone can have a HUGE impact on your body’s ability to regulate itself. If we remove stress, we can remove hormonal imbalance.

I also spend a lot of my working week writing articles on my Substack to help educate people about the various glands in the body and what they are responsible for. I also do regular Instagram Lives and Reels all dedicated to sharing my knowledge and passion for Hormone Yoga Therapy. You can find all of that content on my Instagram @kalindiyogauk. My aim is to empower people to understand what is going on in their body and why. And of course, throughout our life, these hormones change in their levels as our body naturally passes through various phases. I also aim to educate people about those changes and rather than dread them or feel utterly helpless when going through them, they can feel empowered and actively do something to help themselves through this time.
