Kat from Kalindi Yoga has experienced anxiety throughout most of her life. When she was younger, she was always told to ‘stop worrying’ and to stop ‘making things more complicated than they are’. But to her it felt normal to have that amount of worry. There was no reference point to know any different.
As she got older, she realised that perhaps maybe she did think too much about things, the small things. They consumed a lot of her time. There was a battle going on in her head almost all of the time. She would worry about what she said to people, how they may have taken it, what people thought of her and whether she was worthy of anyone’s love. She would always people please rather than look after herself leading to complete exhaustion and six months of illness.
Suffering with low self-esteem for a huge chunk of her life, Kat turned to yoga to help her overcome her fears. Now years down the line, Kat has coped with many life challenges that would have otherwise spiralled her anxiety.
Her dedication to sharing these techniques with others is what led her to design the 12 Month Anxiety Relief Programme. Packed with yoga classes, meditations and coaching calls, this programme is personalised to suit your needs and your schedule, from the comfort of your own home. We often find fitting in self care to be hard, especially if we have to make it to a class or meeting on time. With this programme, you choose your slots for your classes, meditations and coaching calls, fitting it into your lifestyle.
All classes and coaching calls will be done via Skype. You will receive:

Yoga and meditation can help anxiety as anxiety is linked to how our amygdala fires. Our amygdala is responsible for our perception of emotions. It holds memories for us of events and emotions so we can learn from those experiences. For example, if something bad happens it’s your amygdala that captures this and thus may make you scared of the same thing in the future. It’s a pattern of learned behaviour.
When we are in a state of anxiety, we are in our autonomic nervous system - this is the system that prepares us to fight or fly. Yoga and meditation drop us into our parasympathetic nervous system - the system that is our rest and digest function. The more time we can spend connecting to our parasympathetic nervous system, the more we can learn to let go of those fears. To know that there is another, calmer part to ourselves. You are not your anxiety. Anxiety is only a small part of you. Yoga and meditation gives our bodies and brains a chance to recover from the constant firing of our amygdala.
Anxiety needs to be noticed and observed. It needs to be looked at to understand it and manage it. The more we push things away, the bigger problem we are causing for ourselves. Noticing and observing your anxiety doesn’t mean sitting in a constant state of fear, it actually means the opposite.
